There are steps the other side of this bridge known as Wally's Steps and it was from here we started our canal walk on 22/7/2013 at 16.45. The sun was high in the sky but the full moon had not yet shown its face. our aim was to walk as far as possible in about 3 hours but due to taking photos, enjoying the sights and views it took us 4 hours. We thought it was about 9 miles from here but we had not gone very far till we came to the 8.5 milestone. The pathway is very well maintained and we met joggers, cyclists, people fishing and children playing and swimming in the water. The hedges were ablaze with buddleia and wild roses while weeping willows hung their branches into the canals waters. We were pleasantly surprized to find there was little litter strewn along the way.
