This bridge connects Bedford Rd on the east of the canal with Bedford place on the west side. It's the last bridge before you cross the boundary from Bootle to Liverpool.
My grandparents lived near here in St. Johns' Road until the 1970s. In 1946 an aircraft crashed into St. John's Road killing several people including a child and demolished the building opposite my grandparents house.
My mother was never allowed to play near the canal!
