Thanks to Graham for emailing me - this is a scrap one in a British Waterways compound.
Hi. Can you please confirm that this is the old Plank Lane swing bridge, now replaced with a lift bridge. I used to cross this bridge a lot in the mid seventies and have recently started to explore the canals.
I'm afraid it isn't. If you find any pictures of the swing bridge it is of a different design to this one. I'm told that this one is from Burscough or Appley Bridge.
